Tucker U-Sophomore Class-Birds of Paradise
Supply List Block #1
Sophomore year builds upon foundational skills from the freshman year while introducing advanced techniques and principles of design. Students refine their precision cutting and piecing abilities while learning complex methods such as design. Through exploration of design principles like color theory and proportion, students develop their creative expression in block construction. Project-based learning encourages application of skills to real-world scenarios, fostering critical analysis and reflection. By the end of the course, students emerge with enhanced technical proficiency, a deeper understanding of design principles, and a repertoire of creative approaches to block construction.
Supplies:
6 new Design Sheets (sold separately)
6 new Technique Sheets (sold separately)
School of Design Design Sheets(sold separately)
Fabric Requirements:
In each class, we will be building a 16 inch pieced block. We will save these blocks to design a framed border in the School of Design classes. You will end up with (6) mini quilts that measure 24 inches.
For each block, we recommend 4-6 fat quarters and about ¾ yards of a background. This should be enough fabric to complete the block and the frame.
If you plan to use the framed blocks in a quilt, you will need to adjust your fabrics accordingly.
