Have you ever wanted to learn how to quilt? Are you new to quilting and would like to sharpen your skills? Join Ellen as she takes you through the process of completing a sampler quilt from choosing fabrics and colors, cutting, and piecing. We will meet weekly for 8 weeks.
Supply List:
Must Have:
Cutting mat—get the biggest you can afford! 24x36 makes life much easier, but
smaller will work.
Rotary Cutter: choose a safety/self-closing model, 45mm(?) or 28mm(?). 45 mm is
standard—I really like the smaller one
Quilting Ruler: 6x24, Quilters Select (easiest to use) or Creative Grids (Do NOT get
OmniGrid with the yellow marks—they are harder to use)
Pins: choose ones with flat heads that you can iron over, long and thin.
Seam Ripper: inexpensive is fine
Scissors: shears—don’t have to be expensive, but should be new/never used on
anything but fabric! Fiskars are great
Other:
Sewing machine in good working order—bring the manual!
Iron (for quilting at home)
Fabric
Batting
Backing
Basting supplies if needed
Nice to Have:
Small scissors or thread snips
3x12 or 4x12 quilting ruler
temporary fabric markers
3-ring binder, sticky notes, highlighter, pencil
